The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology (LBI ArchPro) is an institute of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft.
The LBI ArchPro is dedicated to the development of new techniques and methodological concepts for landscape archaeology. Its research programme combines geophysics, aerial imaging, computer science and geomatics to develop efficient and universally applicable approaches for the non-destructive detection, documentation, visualisation, analysis and interpretation of archaeological landscapes.
Together with its Austrian (NoeL, TU-Wien, Uni-Wien and ZAMG), British (VISTA), German (RGZM), Norwegian (NIKU) and Swedish (RAÄ) partner organisations, the LBI is working in three interacting, interdisciplinary programme lines, each of them directed by an experienced key researcher. Even though the individual research topics are very specific, they all focus on integrated landscape archaeology as the main research objective.
