Development of automated positioning systems

Various automated positioning and navigation devices are tested and suitable solutions developed for integration with the motorized multichannel magnetometer and GPR systems. Both RealTimeKinematic-GPS (RTK-GPS) and tracking using robotic total stations have been tested. The effects of tilting, positioning errors, gaps in data coverage and long-term stability of the systems are studied. Dedicated data logging and navigation software is developed for the efficient and accurate geophysical prospection of very large areas, measuring square kilometres instead of a few hectares.
