Multi-scale Data Capturing

This research topic is extending remote sensing and geophysical prospection towards the detailed 3D documentation of archaeological heritage by means of multi-scale 3D laser-scanning technology and computer vision (Structure from Motion – SfM). The technology is applied to standing architecture, reliefs, rock art, caves, mines, excavated stratification, inscriptions, figurines and individual objects. In the framework of third-party funded research projects in cooperation with the partners (Akrotiri, Carnuntum, Hallstatt, Tanum, Hornsburg) initial experience is gathered with multi-scale 3D laser scanning and computer vision (SfM), forming the background for the specifications of further research lines.
