Mag. Tanja Trausmuth has studied Celtic Studies and related subjects at the institute of Prehistoric and Historical Archaeology at the University of Vienna, focusing on archaeological and geophysical prospection and remote sensing. During her studies she actively participated between the years 2008 and 2017 in archaeological excavations in Austria and worked as supervisor on several archaeological excavation campaigns of the ‘Early Celtic Societies in North Wales’ project of Bangor University in North Wales (UK). Additionally, she was employed at the University of Vienna as teaching assistant and research associate in the FWF project ‘Die Altkeltischen Sprachreste in Österreich’. Since 2011 she has gained considerable expertise in state-of-the-art high-resolution large-scale geophysical archaeological prospection conducted for and on behalf of ‘Archeo Prospections’ (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik) and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospections and Virtual Archaeology within the ‘ArchPro Carnuntum’ project in Austria, the ‘Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project’ in the UK, on the UNESCO World Heritage Site Birka-Hovgården in Sweden, during the case study Bisenzio in Lazio, Italy and on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Tarquinia and Cerveteri in Lazio, Italy, as well as in one of the most famous Etruscan cities in Vulci in Lazio, Italy. She possesses comprehensive experience in integrated GIS based archaeological interpretation of high-definition prospection data, prospection systems maintenance and logistics.
