The methodological advancement of large-scale remote sensing and near-surface geophysical archaeological prospection approaches and the efficient interpretation of the huge amount of generated data is based on latest technology.

Cutting-edge sensors are employed and developed further in close collaboration with hardware and firmware manufacturers. Dedicated instrument carriers fulfilling special requirements are designed and constructed in-house, while novel data logging and navigation solutions are designed and programmed by software specialists. Both in regard to novel hardware and software products the researchers of the institute function as alpha and beta testers, providing valuable feedback to the manufacturers, contributing to improved reliable solutions for efficient large scale archaeological prospection. Collaborations for advancements of archaeological prospection technology exist between notable instrument manufacturers and the LBI ArchPro.
